I think Iceland has become a top travel destination. And I imagine that once the pandemic is diminished there will be more tourists flooding there.
Before September of 2018, I had no idea what Iceland was or even of its existence. When I first heard of Iceland, it just conjured up scenes from the ice hotel in the James Bond Film Die Another Day. And I thought that was what made up the whole country! (Oh, how wrong I was. :P)
So, back then, my younger brother invited both my older brother and I to venture onto this land. And I had no expectations.
And, so while the landscapes of the glaciers and the rolling hills and mist brought a masterpiece to life, it was also the people that made Iceland still quite memorable to this day.
So, here were some of my impressions of meeting the people who have been born and raised here while others have immigrated here and have since then called Iceland home:

I’m always a sucker for this Scandinavian look, especially since it’s non-existent in my brown-eyed and dark haired family. 😉
This guy helped us with checking out our rental car. He was explaining the controls but I was entranced by his handsomeness.
“Where do you want me?” he asked me after I signed the papers.
I had just blurted out if I could have his photo. And he seemed gentle and kind – well, in my romanticized eyes.
And so I giddily guided him into the morning light – and I probably should have taken his hand and we would have gone dancing in the meadows. 😉

She was one of the tourist shop keepers. And I liked her demure. She even wanted her photo tagged on Instagram!

This guy was just either smoking on the street or what. But, I was on a walking tour and he was staring at us. So, in my half-awake state, I asked him for his photo.
“Yes,” he said in a rough voice.
Ah, I loved that most of the folks here were willing to be photographed! I photographed all of these guys on my first day after stepping off of the red-eye flight.
Stay tuned for the next batch!
Have you photographed strangers before? I hope you’re well. 🙂
