2022: Visiting Island Alpaca on Martha’s Vineyard

I adore alpacas!

So last month, my family and I visited an alpaca farm called Island Alpaca on Martha’s Vineyard. This farm has been around since 2004 and has about 19 acres of land.

Some Fun Alpaca Info

  • Alpacas originate from the Andes Mountains of South America.
  • They have extra large hearts and lungs to cope with the low oxygen levels.
  • Be careful. They spit like camels, too. :O

Admire and Pet the Alpacas

While you can’t go inside their pens and feed them, you’re free to pet them by the fence and take their pictures. They’re still a joy to behold from afar.

Shop at the Local Market

Yep, typical selfie. (;

And if you want to get a hand on alpaca apparel ranging from sweaters to stuffed alpacas, you can’t go wrong with their collections of goods inside their store.

Well, that was our alpaca once-in-a-lifetime adventure – at least on Martha’s Vineyard, haha. Have you interacted with alpacas before? Safe travels. (:
